Maliau Basin or also Maliau Basin Conservation Area, is a region in Sabah,Malaysia, which represents a geological catchment surrounding the Maliau River. Located around the center of Sabah in the Sandakan Division, it was designated as a conservation area by the Sabah Foundation (Yayasan Sabah) in 1981. Later in 1997 the Sabah State Assembly gazetted the Basin as a Protection Forest Reserve (Class I) with a total area of 588 square kilometres. The region also features Mount Lotung (1667 metres), Maliau Falls, and Lake Linumunsut. Efforts are underway to nominate the area as a World Heritage Site

            SABAH CROCKER RANGE NATIONAL PARK

  
                          

Crocker Range National ParkKeningau

144 kilometers away from Kota Kinabalu is the Crocker Range National Park (CRNP), situated in the Crocker Range, Sabah. The Crocker Range Park is located 13 kilometers from Keningau town, approximately 25 minutes away by car. 

The Crocker Range was designated to be a forest reserve in 1968. In 1984, Crocker Range Nature Park was then established in order to protect the water catchments area which was supplying clean drinking water to the West Coast and the interior of Sabah. It was renamed Taman Banjaran Crocker (Crocker Range Park) in 1996 and is managed by the Sabah Parks. 

Located in the heart of Crocker Range Park, the newly developed Sabah Park’s facility which opened in February 2004 is ideal a place for meetings, camping, jungle trekking and outdoor educational activities. Among the attractions to found in the Crocker Range Park are the Rafflesia sites, trekking courses, and camping ground. 
The rising concern for protecting its rich biodiversity and rare species of flora and fauna had been the prime propellant in the initiative to gazette it as a national park.

Hinava Sada Tongii - Tuna Hinava with Lime Juice

RECIPE

Hinava Sada "Tongii" – Tuna Hinava with Lime Juice

 Ingredients:
2 pcs  large chilies         sliced into strips
6 pcs bird chilies             finely cut
200g  bitter gourd            sliced into strips
125ml lime juice             
Salt to taste
Preparation:
1. Mix the sliced bitter gourd with salt to reduce its bittterness and rinse with water.
2. Marinate the fish with the lime juice for 10 minutes. 
3. Mix everything together and add salt to taste. You can chill before eating.Ingredients:
1 kg tuna fresh fillet     cut into strips
100g shallots               sliced into strips
50g ginger                    sliced into strips
2 pcs large chilies       sliced into strips
6 pcs bird chilies         finely cut

Salt to taste

Preparation:
1. Mix the sliced bitter gourd with salt to reduce its bittterness and rinse with water.

 Lemiding Om Bilis – Sautéed Fern Tips with Dried Anchovy 


Ingredients:
2 bundle Lemiding shoots           pick the young leaves only
15g Red onion                                 finely cut
15g White onion                              finely cut
100g Dried anchovies                    soaked in water and rinse
1 tbsp cooking oil                          
Salt to taste

Preparation:
1. Heat the wok, add cooking oil and fry the onions until fragrant.
2. Add in the anchovy; stir fry before adding the ferns tips and salt.
3. Sauté until cooked. Dish out and serve warm.

            HISTORY Kadazan-FARM IN SABAH
      
                                    
    Kadazan-Dusun is the name of the original indigenous people of Sabah. One theory says people originally from the Bunun tribe of Taiwan. Kadazan-Dusun ethnic group uses a variety of languages ​​and dialects with various cultural and traditional customs. There are 27 tribes in it. Among them is the Liwan Dusun, Dusun Tindal, Dusun Pahu, Dusun Lotud, Bagahak, Dusun Labuk, Dusun Kimaragang, Tagahas, Tangara, Dusun, Rungus, Orang Sungai, Kuijau, Tambanuo, and so on.
    Initially Tun Fuad Stephens, Huguan Siou (Supreme Leader) the first Kadazan, Kadazan proposed term used to consolidate the 14 tribes who share the language to give them a greater voice. This was agreed upon by many, but some people want the orchard greater autonomy, with the term Kadazan-Dusun chosen as a compromise.
    The largest ethnic group is Dusun tribe which is one-third of the population. Dusun tribes who live on the west coast as Penampang, Papar, Tuaran, Kiulu, Tamparuli Tenghilan, Kota Belud and also in the valley hills Ranau, Tambunan and Keningau are traditionally farmers who grow rice and upland rice. Some hunting and river fishing. They are mostly located in the making around the valley's west coast and the interior.
    Usually people from subetnik mentioned above are derived (occupied) than the areas (districts) in another Kimaragang in Kota Marudu, Lotud in Tuaran, The Kinabatangan River, Sugut, Paitan and Pitas. Most of the Kadazan-Dusun people profess Christianity. For people who live in the area River Pitas, they embraced Islam while other districts such as Kinabatangan (Buol) and Paitan, The River Muslims and Christians. Lotud community (Suang Lotud) also inhabited the South West Coast of Sabah especially Tuaran, Tamparuli, Telipok and and little in Kota Belud (Tempasuk). They live in longhouses inhabited collective that gathers some families, between 150-200 people. However, at present, is rarely seen in a long house races. Most were suffering from physical and mental development.
    Kadazan-Dusun term derived from the result of the merger Kadazan and Dusun ethnic as well as several other smaller ethnic groups. This merger is a result of political disputes.                                              Pinaasakan

                                             

    Pinaasakan is a special traditional dish for Kadazan-Dusun, Sabah [1]. It is a dish that is produced by using the fish (fresh water fish / marine fish).
    Fish will be cleaned and mixed with a little turmeric and ginger seeds that have been pounded, a little tamarind seeds or fruit tart 'Takob-bakob', salt, seasoning powder and a little water. Then it will be heated up to the boiling water until almost dry.

    Noonsom a kind is one of the traditional dishes special to the Kadazan-Dusun tribes in Sabah, or more recognizable as orange in Bahasa Melayu. There are several types of Noonsom in Kadazandusun dishes, among which the most popular is Noonsom Sada (Fish), Noonsom Bambangan (fruit) and Noonsom Tuhau (side dish).
    Noonsom Sada - The fish used was kind of freshwater fish, cleaned and dijeruk use Pangi fruit content (boxed), rice and salt.
    All these ingredients are mixed and filled into a used bottle / small tajau and leave on for ten or twelve days before serving.
    Noonsom Bambangan - Content Bambangan dihiris and mixed fruit with seeds that have been shredded Bambangan fruit and a little salt. [1]
    When all ingredients are mixed, fill the bottle to the former or small tajau and leave it for a week before eating.
    Noonsom Tuhau - Fill Tuhau (a kind of plant) dihiris smooth and dijeruk with vinegar, salt and red chilli. [2]
    When all ingredients have been mixed, fill into the bottle and let some former Minit before serving.



         
           INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF TRADITION MURUT, IN                                           KENINGAU,SABAH
                                                         
    Murut people living in rural and southeastern areas of Sabah and is the third largest community in the state. One of the ethnic groups in the State of Sabah Murut tribe is rich with culture. They usually live in Tenom, Keningau and Pensiangan. Murut people also divided into Murut Tahol or Tagol, Tidung, Timugon, SEMBAKUNG, Scourge, Bookan, Kalabakan, and Murut Serundung. Where The Murut represent 2.9% of the population of Sabah, which is about 50,000 people. Murut tribes are also available in Brunei, Sarawak and Kalimantan. Murut people have their own distinct language with other Murut tribes. Uniquely, the Murut people live in their traditional home of longhouses and live harmoniously in a large family near the river.

                Memorial of Mat Salleh

    This memorial is located in Tibabar Village, Tambunan district, about 50 miles from Kota Kinabalu city. The memorial marks the site of the last Mat Salleh fort which was invaded and destroyed by the North Borneo Armed Constabulary on the 1st February 1900. During the battle Mat Salleh, who for six years had led a rebellion against the Chartered Company administration, met his death at this fort.

    Keningau Heritage Museum


    Formerly a Government Rest House, built in 1946 and completed in 1947. It was built by the Borneo Construction Company Ltd. It has been turned into the Keningau Heritage Museum in 2008. VVIPs such as Malaysia’s Prime Ministers, YAM. Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra AL-Haj and YAB. Tun Abdul Razak had visited and stayed at this historic Rest House before. Visitors to the Keningau Heritage Museum can view aspects of Keningau’s heritage covering culture, Islamic Civilization, history, zoology, ethno-botany and sports.
